Maya Madelene

My darling baby turned six today!! When we first met she was ten days old. The vet told us I'll be lucky if she makes it past two months of age due to a heart defect she had. I fed her sushi for two years straight with kitty vitamins and we went walking in the park on daily basis. Maddie never leaves my side. Today, she is 6 years old and I'm just thinking back at what a cutie little kitten she was when she was a itty bitty muffin. She is adorable! I made her this dress and she looks so pretty in it :) Happy Birthday Maya Madelene! XOXO

Kay Hanley @ the Viper Room

I can't help it, I just love her voice, and the guitars are sooooo good.
Check this clip out, it's from a recent show at the Viper Room in LA with her husband on the left, Mike Eisenstein (a.k.a. USA). Still rocking it and looking like she's in her twenties. Don't know how you do it Hanley! Wish I was there to see this show :(

ASPCA is doing it's best. Let's help end cruelty!

!!!HELP END DOG FIGHTING!!!

ASPCA ASSISTED IN LARGEST DOG FIGHTING CRACKDOWN IN U.S. HISTORY! On Wednesday, July 8, the ASPCA began assisting federal and state agencies in what is believed to be the largest crackdown on dog fighting in U.S. history. The raid spans eight states so far—Missouri, Illinois, Iowa, Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Nebraska and Mississippi. Arrests have been made in all eight states.

Nearly 400 rescued dogs were safely transported to a secure facility. “The ASPCA is determined to protect the nation’s pets from dog fighting and other forms of brutality,” says ASPCA President & CEO Ed Sayres. “Animal cruelty cannot be tolerated. We are proud to lend our support to federal and local agencies to ensure that these abusers are brought to justice.”

The ASPCA will also eventually assist in behavior evaluations of the dogs. Dog fighting is banned throughout the United States and is a felony in all 50 states. If convicted of animal fighting charges, those arrested each face up to five years in prison. Your support makes it possible for the ASPCA to rescue animals from this horrendous life. If you want a difference, please help make it. Take a good look at these pictures. Do these look like vicious dogs to you? They are victims. They were all good puppies once. Dog fighting needs to stop. Please help end it! Thanks!! HERE TO HELP ASPCA

Bushidō

I got some e-mails asking what the Japanese caligraphy above means... it's Bushidō. The samurai lived and died by a code of honor. Those of you who know me well, know I've been doing martial arts since I was a child, but I very much believe that a true martial artist is strong on the inside. I'm a Buddhist, because it's the only religion that believes all life is precious. I love animals. The day I turn from a pescaterian to a vegan will be probably my greatest achievement (if I don't have a kid before that happens :P) I admire many things about Japan. (Definitely not their dolphin gutting or the certain sushi places which fry live shrimp) however, for the most part, the Japanese people are great. Their ethics in life are most admirable. The fact that anything worth doing is worth doing well. Even if it is only the art of Ikebana or a simple tea ceremony. Most people fall victim to their daily struggles. Often time, for a job or money people will sell out their ideals. It takes a very strong person to say I can live on less, but I will do as I believe. I don't have children, so for me all this is probably easier said than done, but I believe that if you can overcome an internal struggle to be able to say: "I did it my way and I didn't sell out", that is a time you can truly be proud of who you are; no matter how much you have.

Wow! 233? Happy Birthday America!

Happy Independence day! America is two hundred and thirty three years old! Fireworks shined across our nation, one nation, under God, indivisible with liberty and justice for all. Boy, do I feel patriotic today. I even baked! We buy our cakes, but I can swing the brownies and the muffins all on my own. Chocholate and vine seem like a great way to celebrate a vegetarian 4th! It was a hot day, a beautiful summer day....even our lazy kitty cats were vegging out. We sipped lemonade and watched the fireworks on the telly. I'm surprised I managed to stay off the internet all day! Here are some clips from yesterday. If you ask me, Boston has the best fireworks, but then again, I'm bias. In part, I regret not getting down to the Esplanade, but next year, for sure! Altough, I'm thinking of a fab 4th on Nantucket, 1997! Fun times.

Organic meals with Stagesamurai! Cook with me!

It's been a while since I've contributed to my online cookbook.
Seriously, these meals may look expensive, but they don't cost any more than the crappy poisenous pesticide filled foods or enriched pastries at the grocerry stores.
Why? I grow my own veggies and I buy the rest at Whole Foods. Organic foods are always cheapest at Whole Foods. Your local store may sell them, but they up the prices to make you think that it's not worth living on pesticide free or gluten free food. Read the labels! I can't stress how much I think everyone should read Rory Freedman's book, Skinny Bitch (see my older posts). You will find that most foods will have corn syrup, artificial this and that they are hydronated or processed in some way as well as enriched. You're not a farm pig, you don't need to eat food that is enriched. As an animal lover I will add - neither do the pigs. Supermarket food is designed to kill you before you can collect pension. Hence, eat well and live well. Turn off that TV! Get your touchas moving and outside! Then, when you're rady to cook, click here to see my very latest yummy!

Pani Kluci - Tom Sawyer

I love this film! When I was a little girl I thought this was the most romantic scene ever. Tom is on his way to a treasure hunt, here he asks Blanka to kiss him, so that they would be engaged, and at first she refuses, then she kisses him. After the kiss he says it was better than with Andula and Blanka gets jealous. When her mom asks her why she is crying, she says that she was stung by a bee!

RIP Michael Jackson, Farrah Fawcet and Ed McMahon all in the same week!

Ed McMahon passed away on June 23, 2009 and not long after, Michael Jackson and Farrah Fawcett both passed on June 25th. Could it be that these things really do happen in threes? What can I say? It's a strange month. Are they all in line together now, up there, at the Pearly Gates? On the lighter side of things, we all go to the same place someday, might as well accept it. Corinth chair from FOX design, CT

This chair is fabulous! This chair, born right here in Simsbury, CT at FOX Designs, who describe the chair as a classical Greek architecture inspiration with a contemporary twist. I see is simply as an ultramodern comfort. The backrest is a flex-steel comfortable support and visually, the chair is an absolute gem. It almost screams personality!

Inspirational artwork of Blythe Metz

My gorgeous friend Blythe sent me a few things today. Among the gifts was her stunning artwork. Blythe's art is inpiration on the wings of hope. Very few times in my life have I met someone who could be turned inside out and still remain - beautiful. Blythe is an amazing soul. All the good that is in her comes out in her work. She is an incredible individual who wants to give so much. If only everyone in the world would do the same the world would be an amazing place to live. If you are interested in purchasing her art, e-mail me, I'll send the note to Blythe.

Insanely crazy laws accross the universe!

In Missouri, whenever you move a bear down a highway, it must be in a cage.
In Florida, it is illegal to sing in a public place while in a bathing suit.
In New Jersey, keeping a homing pigeon from returning to its home is illegal.
In Delaware, it's against the law to pawn a wooden leg.
In Massachusetts, rodeo clowns are not allowed to engage in sex in front of the horse since it might spook them.
Snowball fights are against the law in Aspen, Colo.
In Nebraska, if a child burps during church, his parents may be arrested.
In Wyoming, you may not take a picture of a rabbit from January to April without a permit.
In Portland, Oregon, people may not whistle underwater.
In Bettendorf, Iowa, beer ads cannot be posted outside liquor stores.
In Atlanta, piggyback rides are illegal if you are both males, because one man cannot be on another man's back.
In Pensylvania singing in the bathtub can be prohibited if it bothers anyone.
It is illegal to go fishing with dynamite.
Sixteen unmarried women living in the same house (other than a sorority) meets the definition of a brothel.
Participating in a duel will eliminate you from running for governor.

In Iceland, before a building is constructed, the land must be proven to be free of elves.
In Bolivia, one glass of wine, or alcoholic beverage is the most a single woman is allowed to drink in a public restaurant or bar.
In Germany, every person who works in an office must be positioned in such a manner that they can see some part of the sky.
In England, a pregnant woman can relieve herself in any convenient facility. This includes using a police officer's hat.
In Malaysia, toilet paper should not be used instead of a napkin in a public establishment.
In Thailand, underwear is required if you are going to be in public places.

I'm on Twitter!

Well, the whole world is doing it, so yes. I'm on Twitter under 'biotchtwitt' and it's clear that if all my friends jumped off a bridge, etc....I'm on Facebook and I'm on Twitter; may the good Lord help me!! The funny thing is that by joining I discovered an old college fellow, Biz Stone. We were in the theatre department together my senior year. I knew about Twitter, but I never knew he invented Twitter! Good going Biz. Mind you I still have the photos from the show if you ever need to feel a tad bit embarassed :P just give a holler. So, is everyone from my senior class a millionaire? Everyone, but me, it seems. Dammit, Janet! I tell ya, I'm living one Rocky Horror Picture Show. R u tweeting? Look me up!!

New Moon and Taylor Lautner!

Yep! New Moon is on it's way! Here's Dakota Fanning as Jane and Ashley Greene as Alice Cullen, walking to the New Moon set a la bella Italia, where the Volturi dwell. Taylor Lautner is back as Jacob. This time he's a cute widduh puppy. Looking good Taylor! I'm excited about the Twilight sequel and I am very curious about the Volturi. Most of all very happy with the cast line up and psyched that the very talented Cameron Bright got a part in this film. Err, November is so far away, isn't it? It's my Bday month too!

Skinny Bitch Rory Freedman

YOU MUST READ THIS BOOK if you have not yet done so! Sweet amazing Rory sent me a copy of her book, Skinny Bitch today as well as her second, Skinny Bastard. I can read a book in under an hour, so after I completed reading Skinny Bitch tonight I felt complelled to ask you all to do the same. The book reads like a true friend telling you how it is. If you don't like it, shove it, but what you don't know can hurt you, so you better listen up! Rory Freedman is a girl after my own heart. Although we are birds of a feather and I read nothing new, she enlightened me. I've been spewing the same things for years - most of the food on supermarket shelves is poisoned and you need to learn how to read labels. As my mom placed items in the supermarket basket, I would take them out, reading the labels while pointing out the "poison". Look ma' free radical, cancer, a no no. Reading Rory's book drove me to a very painful decision today...I am giving up my coffee for an occasional cappuccino. Up until today I was on I.V. drip, the bastard daughter of Mrs. Folgers and Juan Valdez (although I only drink organic coffee) it's time to say adios. I made the decision to become vegan five years ago. Each year I gave up on one type of meat. I'm down to sea food and coffee, two poisons I had left to purge. Can I do this? Of course I can. I own my body, it doesn't own me. Pick up Rory's book today, learn about nutrition and how to live a healthy life. You will finally be able to say 'Ess gezunterhait' and mean it!

Eine Hochzeit, un mariage, una boda, svatba, a wedding...

...no matter how you say it, I'm a jerk. I offered to make my sweet friend Justina her wedding gown and like a total looser I bailed. I was making two sample gowns for my Barbies (yes, I have Barbies) wanting to offer Justina options in style and let her pick the gown she likes, but my Serger broke!! Now, the repairs will take time and her wedding is next Friday. Can I be more of a douche than I am right now? I feel so badly I'm actually posting about it. This would have been the third wedding dress I ever made, but it would have been the one she wanted, totally fitted to her and she must be devastated as I feel just absolutely wretched. What now? I had some pie a la mode - it didn't help at all.

Robert Castle

There was a time when I needed to sound overly sexual for a voice over project (no, not porn) and I just couldn't 'get there'. I laid down on the staircase, head first and tried to make my way down, squirming, while saying my lines (not easy, trust me)
I paid close attention to the sound of my voice, voila! It worked! When in doubt go method? Well, I think every working actor should have some idea of sense/memory work.
For you, my fellow actor friends who visit my blog, I suggest you consider taking a workshop with Robert, my former Strasberg teacher, as he is now running several of them in Europe. Anyone up for Milan in April? Email me and I'll send him your information.

Letters To Cleo are on the road again!

I tend to pimp KAY HANLEY on my blog from time to time. She's a gal from Dottie, Mass, where I landed some years ago from NY (months before that from Europe) not speaking any English. Her little sis took me under her wing and I found my new home worth staying. Them Hanley chicks are a powerful breed. Speaking of powerfull, you may have heard Kay's awesome vocals at a Miss Cyrus show during the BOBW tour this past year in a city near thee (how does Ticketron always know where you are?) and if you haven't, visit her myspace and give a listen. Well she's back with her own band LTC for a short set of tour dates. I have to, but you definitely should not miss them in concert. The music is just way cool! They keep scheduling stuff when I'm unable to attend and I'm begining to take it personally! Click on the post title to get the tour dates. XO - Stagesamurai

Swine Flu

Take a good look at that picture. This is "free range" - not caged - but yeah, packed to a max, dirt, feces, flu and all. This is how they live, year after year until you eat them. Chickens are even worse - debeaked, mamed and packed to a max. Oh, boy! We eat sick meat; well, not me. I'm an occasional pescaterian. The swine flu has everyone in uproar. You don't need to be a brainac to know when the economy is bad two possibilities may help recover it - a war or a pandemic. DUH Just look at the history of pandemics from a monetary point of view, it's all right there, years and numbers. Well, unless my leg is broke, I avoid hospitals like a plague, no pun intended here, but I had to find out if my cold was more than a cold. Luckily, nope. I don't have the swine flu. I have a simple bronchitis. What fun these past ten days have been! If you're a friend, you know I prefer self cure to any doctor (unless it's my dear pappa)so I don't pay for health insurance, but it was interesting to see the difference in care my mom received with health insurance and my visit to the hospital. Mine was very inadequate (as a daughter of a pediatrician I know what needs to be done)... Let's just say my doctor didn't even ask me to remove my shirt to listen to my lungs using her (what she calls) stethoscope (in fact, the correct Latin name for the instrument is phonendoscope, according to the entire planet Earth, except the US). After mom had an Xray of her chest done, I insisted on one as well. My mom was given Zitromax, I only Augmentin - not as strong and I got no Vicadin for pain - she did. My so called 'check up' was mediocre. I was 'interviewed' rather than examined. My poor mumsey caught my illness. After her examination determined she had bronchitis, it was a relief to know what I had and that it was not the swine flu. Mom strongly believes in Western medicine, NYQUIL and all, but I would have to be forced at gun point to take that. I share my father's view of hollistic first - poison pills only as a last resort. My advice? This is what I did:
I ate yogurt = for healthy bacteria with honey = for a stronger immune system;
I drank green Kombucha like a madwoman = again, an immune boost
I made two shots of pure Vitamin C drinks with water
(water in a glass bottle, hold the plastic thank you)
I stocked us up on berries = they are all great for boosting your immune system
I took oil of oregano = a natural type of antibiotic
I ate organic raw foods with smoked salmon
I took Omega3
I exercized = so my body could pin point my illness and fight it
Instead of inhalants I used my steamer with natural salts
I soaked my feet 2X a day
I gargled with Echinacea
Tomorrow I break open my juicer and I'll juice the darkest of veggies, the darker the color the better and more healthy goodies for me! I'll snuggle up for much needed Zs and sleep the weekend away!
Don't wait until you're sick to boost your immune system, do it now!

Blythe Metz

I have this very sweet, smart, talented and stunning friend in LA named Blythe Metz. She is an actress and an artist, but what impressed me most is her inner beauty. She makes the effort to learn, to be green, to be pure, to be one with nature. I love her. Period. Here's an interesting little video - smart stuff you may really like. I love the way these kids think! We're totally in sync, baby. I love beets too.
PS: I miss you much! XO

Adam Lambert

Adam Lambert, you sweet sweet boy, you are so going to win American Idol 2009!!!
More power to you. First of all, you kick but on stage every single week as far as I am concerned and second of all, you don't need to prove anything; you are already a pro, babe. OMG tonight for singing one of my favorite songs by my absolute favorite performer, her legendary awesomeness Nina Simone. Thank you! I totally loved it!

In the next video - Adam Lambert, Maya Haddi, Noa Dori sing SHIR LASHALOM (Song for Peace) Arranged by Sharon Farber.

We're in for quite a show on Friday 13th, April 2029

There are only a few people lookin' out for asteroids in the sky headed for our sweet planet Earth! When it returns, seven years later, will it touch and hit? If you knew, for sure, that this is it for you, on that very day...what would you do? I say live every day like that. These objects are hypersonic, you won't know, you will not hear anything. Live every day as if it were your last. See your life change for the better. Be true, honest and adventurous!! XO

Webber performed well is worth seeing live!

There are only a few performances left of this tour, but Ted Neeley's Gethsemane is truly worth a ticket. JCS is not my favorite Webber play, however, the vocals here are truly impressive. Neeley's portrayal of Jesus definitely makes you feel the lyrics, wether or not you particularily agree with what is said. The second video is from Hungary, a performance by György Szomor. I think Szomor does an almost driven to madness Jesus. Religious believes aside, as a perfomer, I very much appreciate the work. They both give it their all. Click on the title to get tour tickets.

Unflippinbelievable!!! Japan's ultra modern lofts!

If you know me well, you need not wonder what I see in this. As I often shop for the craziest ultra modern stuff, these lofts really blew my mind when I first found out about them. Hello, lego homes! They are adorable. The rent is on the high end, about $2000, however, if you plan to live in Nippon for a while, why not try it out, right? Susan Boyle

What an amazing talent this woman is!! It's my mami's birthday tomorrow. To begin festivities I took mom to the the Big Apple for taping of the View, because mom is addicted to the View. Thank God Tori Spelling was their guest of the day. I would have ripped off my arm and thrown it at myself out of boredom! Poor Tori was torchured. The View gals grilled her about the new book and insisted Tori call her mother. (- as if that was any of their beezwax anyway)There were moments where Tori looked quite uncomfortable. One minute Joy Behar and a Chef were flipping burgers, the next, they brought in the circus. I mean, come on! As an animal lover, I was dissapointed. Whoopi Goldberg introduced Ms. Susan Boyle, a woman of 47, from Lothian, Scottland. Let me just say friends that this woman has some pipes! Susan Boyle belongs on Broadway. I tear up listening to her. This is how Webber should sound! It's a pleasure to hear when the song is done right. Bless you, Susan!

EVIL MAKE UP IS NOT GLAMOROUS!

Without question, testing products on animals is outdated, bad science. It is also horribly cruel.

Countless animals — dogs, cats, rabbits, mice, chimpanzees and other primates are suffering in laboratories; force-fed cosmetics and household cleaners and they are injected with toxic chemicals. Dogs are forced to suffer heart attacks, mice are infected with massive tumors and holes are drilled into skulls of baby monkeys so that electrodes can be inserted into their brains. There is no rationale beyond the "we've always done it this way" excuse. Experimenters justify their paycheck in the name of 'research' - the truth is that non-animal test methods are less cruel, cheaper and far more effective in predicting results in people. Significant progress has been made since the 70's. Just look at all the great products available today at your local Whole Foods market. This happened because people cared and refused to buy the cruel products. Please read the labels before you buy, look for the NOT TESTED ON ANIMALS label on every household product and your make up.
Please help stop this madness by clicking here and let your voice be heard.

    Ocean State Grand Nationals 2009

Where did I go? Well, the Ocean State Grand Nationals are on from April 3 - April 5, 2009 in Warwick, Rhode Island. I was asked to cover the event for IKF magazine and let me just tell you I was most impressed, especially with the younger generation of butt kickers, like little Sammy Smith. I have lots of photos and a great story, but unfortunately, my blog readers will have to wait until it's all publisehd in the mag. Enjoying fries and coke (I know - kill me for touching that poison!) with three moms, one dad and three very adorable chickidees - Amanda, Makensi and Sammy, I was surprised to learn that Twilight's very own Taylor Lautner is well known on the NASKA circuit. The girls were absolutely swooning over him! Rightfully so, because Taylor Lautner is a total hottie, but see? Twilight is not the only reason why he's got so many fans. More on the OSGN event later, but for now, watch this!

** I just have to add a small disclaimer here :P
I'm a student of the oldest traditional type of martial arts, (in karate & kung fu) therefore a non competitive school of thought. These tricks are great fun to watch, but I have always believed that nothing is ever as effective as true traditional, non flashy martial arts. That's not to say that these kids don't work hard or aren't talented. They are, but just imagine what they could do with a month in Okinawa or China to learn from instructors there. WOW!

    See? Smoke home grown....

Cancer's a bitch. It is important that you favor natural medicine for your ailments - you are a natural being. Avoid meat, it's acidic, and no animal is rasied in a caring environment if it's raised for slaughter. Live better! Do not sit in front of the TV 24/7 or, if like me, you work with your computer, take breaks. Go outside and do some gardening or join a gym. Eat better! Change to an all organic diet. Eat vegetables that are grown in organic soil, not in water. Many women won't touch veggies, because it gives them gas, but they don't know it's how the veggies are grown! Drink in moderation. A glass of vine with food is good for your heart, yet, alcohol pollutes the blood, as do enriched, hydrogenated and processed foods. If you insist on drinking like a fish, drink water! Everything you could possibly want to eat today comes in organic form these days, even condiments. The choice is yours and information is out there. Don't complain about your ailments, look for information and learn. If you or a loved one are suffering of chronic pain, like arthritis or cancer, change to an all organic diet and try a bottle of hemp oil. CLICK on the title of this post. XO

    SEAL HUNT BEGINS

5:48 AM eastern time today - sealers stormed into the once-peaceful seal nursery with their hakapiks raised. Within seconds, defenseless baby seals were clubbed, their blood spilling onto the ice. This year the Canadian government allows for the slaughter of 280,000 seals for fur by commercial sealers. What can you do? Two things: write a letter, the old fashioned pen and paper way to the Canadian Emabassy in D.C asking your friends to do the same. Second, in order to help sustain the Humane Society workers who are there documenting what happens with your donation CLICK HERE Please don't let this go unnoticed. Take action and whatever you do become an-anti fur advocate. Speak up for those who can't!

A sad life story, the reality of life

CLICK HERE to see a truly touching Russian picture I found online. It saddens me that for so many children this is the harsh reality of life. HT is not a joke. It happens to children of all ages, all over the world, especially those living in poor countries, with no one to turn to for help, they're hungry and living on hope. You may watch this thinking: stay in school! get a job! ...but it's not easy for a lot of teenagers/children who never received the right kind of guidance from their parents. They don't think like you, they're dreamers and you know what Shakespeare said: "dreamers often die." I'm very impressed with the work of the beautiful Oksana Akinshina, whom you may know from Bourne Supremacy with Matt Damon. She is a fresh new talent and I totally adore her. Вы красивая девочка!

Puppies and kitties - horrid truth!!! Write a letter, please!

Fashion designers who couldn't care any less continue to gloat, while animals suffer. Now animals in China are being SKINNED ALIVE!! They say it's done to get a more perfect ''cut''; afterwards, the carcasses are tossed into a pile, still alive. For up to 10 minutes you can see their hearts beating, they are in agony, their eyes are blinking and the puppies' little paws are still shaking. One puppy lifted his head and gazed at the camera with bloodied eyes. If you can't stomach to watch the video, I understand and you don't need to. Hence the description, but please take time out to write a letter to the Chinese ambassador in YOUR country. Tell him you are angry! Tell your friends to do the same! This monstrosity must be stopped. If you want to see the video, CLICK ON THIS; but take my word, it is heinous!
Write to the Chinese ambassador in your country!
USE THIS LINK TO FIND OUT WHERE TO WRITE:
Please write a polite letter. Animal activists must be respectfull to be taken seriously. Sending a letter may not seem like much, but it's all these animals have right now. Please do not postpone it do it now. Maybe if their desks are flooded with mail, in every country, perhaps they will realize this brings China to shame.
U.S. citizens, write the letter to:

    Pattinson GQ Vamp April 2009

Monsieur Vampir in the April 2009 GQ. Nice! I wonder, would I still think this kid is hot if he didn't play a vampire? Hm, maybe, yeah. Although, I do love vamps. New Moon begins filming in March! I'm also predicting this slick young fellow may someday find himself in the role of someone very Birtish, shaken, not stired.

    Lenka Kripac rocks!!

I was hanging out with the stunning, amazingly talented, fantabulous Lenka Kripac at New York's Terminal5 this Friday. Lenka stole the 'show'! (no pun intended - as her self titled debut CD features a fabulous song titled 'the Show') This amazing Czech/Aussie gal opened for another Australian performer, Missy Higgins, alongside bluesy Justin Nozkuka. The best act of the night was Lenka & band. They are touring the US, so please visit Lenka's myspace page to find out when this lovely songbird performs in your town and definitely go! No matter what her lyrics say, you won't want your money back!

    Fashion Week

Mercedes Benz Fashion Week fall 2009 in New York City. I attended fashion week for a few days. I should be an impartial journalist, yet, I just wanted to vomit from all the fur around me. The design world should be more conscientious by now, unfortunately, it isn't so. Vogue editor Anna Wintour showed up at the Carolina Herrera show sporting a dead carcass around her neck. Way to go! Be a leader not a sheep, lady. Make the right choices! Stella McCartney (who didn't show this FW) is an example to all designers. I can only hope that someday Fashion Week will be free of road kill. Robert Pattinson: I'll be Your Lover

Okay, how cool is this song? I'm not a blues expert, but I really like it. Plus, he's so hot, that hearing him sing the contents of my phone book is sexi. Enjoy...

    I'll be your man
    I'll understand
    I'd do my best to
    take good care of you
    You'll be my Queen
    I'll be your King
And I'll be your Lover too
    Yes I will
    Derry Down Green
    Colour of my dream
    A dream that's daily
    Coming true
    Oh, when day's through
    I will come to you
    And take you on
    your many charms
Yeah, then you'll look at me
    with eyes that see
    And we'll melt into
    each others arms
    You'll be my Queen
    I'll be your King
And, I'll be your Lover, too...

Another song called BROKE is also really fantastic once it gets going and here's one more, called Stray Dog and a concert from LA's Whiskey (not very clear to see, but interesting)

    Slumdog Millionaire

My favorite film is Cinema Paradiso. Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon has now been bumped to third place by my new second favorite film, Slumdog Millionaire. Slumdog Millionaire is a film about the harsh reality of life, uncovering India's poverty and the dark underworld of Mumbai. There are no words that can fully describe this wonderful piece of work. Hope, destiny, purity of heart...it is a love story proving that no evil or amount of money can beat true love. From the screenplay to direction, cinematography, set design, acting, editing, the sound...every aspect of this film is a perfect 10! The film has a soul. Hats off to director Danny Boyle and screenwriter Simon Beaufoy. You make a great team! The actors in Slumdog Millionaire are, for the most part, amateurs. Yet, their work is genuine and at professional caliber. The story will dig deep into your heart. Slumdog Millionaire will give you a new perspective on life. There are films that speak for themselves. Don't miss out! See Slumdog Millionaire. I give it four Chinny Bini paws!!

Unfortunately, the slums are real. Not all children in India live well and not all are safe. Come on India, there should be no "slum kids".

    You are a Hologram

Ever feel like none of this is real? When I had my car accident and my little out of body experiences took on a life of their own, I thought "what if the life we 'think' we're living, doesn't really exist?" Neo saw how deep the rabbit hole could go, should we as well consider the possibility that this world, this 3D existence we call life could simply be a series of projected images? Ever take a photograph that catches movement? I've been reading David Icke for a while now, just because I find him très intéressant. Take a peak by clicking on the title of this post. The universe is truly beautiful...but is it really there? TO BE OR NOT TO BE
    That is the question.

ADOPT A PET, DO NOT BUY!

Adopt from a shelter, don't buy from breeders or store. Stores are supplied by puppy mills, no matter what they tell you and you would be surprised how many purebreds are stuck in animal shelters, rescue groups and even dog pounds! Perfect pets who are found lost, roaming the streets or repossesed due to a cruelty - always the owner's fault - are on death row. Imagine if you were on death row for something you didn't do. We're talking about good living creatures, jailed, paying dues for human neglect or cruelty. Not fair. If you're a parent with young children, please do not search for kittens or puppies. Use your brain. Kids are a handfull. Pets are YOUR responsibility, just like children and you can't leave the care of a living creature in your child's hands. If you want to be sure your child is ready for a pet, FOSTER an animal for a rescue group or wait until your children are older. Another option - save a life of an older family dog from a rescue group. ID your pet and GET THEM SPAYED!!! Access to water all day, food and exercise. Can't do it? If you have excuses, you're not ready. Period. If you kennell yur pet while you're at work, they need more than a half an hour walk outside. Cruelty is often not realized by the owner. YES You too can be cruel. Long haired cats and dogs need grooming. Can you afford it? No? You're not ready for a pet. Get a webkin! I also think that before you adopt ANOTHER pet, take your present creature friend's feelings in mind. Make sure they can handle it. Always remember that adoption saves lives; buying overpopulates. Animals in shelters are not damaged; they come from damaged owners. Becoming a foster home for a pet in need is an amazing gift! If you care about animals, get involved in issues of animal injustice. Your voice matters! Most of all, please live by example. Paris Hilton says she loves animals, but she wears fur and she'll eat at a sushi place that fries living creatures before her eyes, because "it tastes good." That is not an animal lover. Be strong and have principles. We are only strong in numers!! CLICK HERE and HERE if you truly want to do some good for little souls who never saw much good (who despite their neglect are good, loving animals) think about adopting an older pal. There are many rescue groups in your areas too, google them and help out. It's cold, they need blankets, toys and food. Most of all donations! Think of the 'kill' shelters too and foster.

PS: If your new pet is a cat and you love your furniture more, then before you even consider the cruel option of declawing your cat, read this: WHY DO CATS SCRATCH?

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2009! XO - Marika

The planet Earth celebrated New Year 2009! First to hit the gong was some small island (I don't recall the name), then Australia, Japan and the rest of the world followed. We drank Champagne and lots of shrimp as 2009 made it's big entrance at midnight. Enjoy a few clips here and have a great year 2009! May all your good dreams come true! The fireworks weren't as cool as in TAIPEI last year, but not bad either; I think Australia looked best! XOXOXO

MORONS KILLING BABY ANIMALS - ENOUGH!

Time and time again, I make it no secret that I am against the yearly seal hunt.
I'm sure with Palin running Alaska, the seals don't have a prayer, no matter how much money is collected. This only makes it more important for you to get on board and sign. All you have to think about is a baby seal, getting spiked with a hook and skinned to death ALIVE, left suffering still alive, skinned, while the mother seal laments over her baby. I know the whole "please don't tell me, I don't want to know" feeling - but for you, all you have to do is look and listen, the baby seal has to FEEL IT ALL. The following link contains only a petition. Please sign. Please. Get on board to help end this cruelty.

    Twilight (2008)

Do you feel like you're in the Twilight zone? Have you read Ms. Stephenie Meyer's books? Have you seen Hardwicke's film? They are great. The Twilight craze isn't. It is ruining the nature of the book for me. I remember when my friends and I walked around in Doc Marten boots and biker jackets and the 'normal' folks were looking at us like we're from another planet. Excuse me, now it's okay to be dark? Black is the new pink? I hate the milking of a good thing and the actor's lives just turned into a bubble. Every major department store looks like it spew chunks of Twilight; posters, lunchboxes, jewelry...WHYYYYYYY! Well, one good thing is that kids are reading books again. Seriously, if I see Stewart and Pattinson figurines at McDonalds (not that I would ever eat there), that's it! I'm done watching anything but indies. Although...I thought this was going to be an indie. Damn!

Above is the trailer, and click here for a B review with video clips.
If you happen to be one of those crazy fan chicks, who totally ignored the fabulous concentration and performance of Kristen Stewart in Twilight, because you were head over heals smitten by Robert Pattinson, then you probably didn't focus much on his acting chops either. You may get the chance, soon, in Little Ashes, a film released in USA on March 27, 2009 in select cities.(Yes, the bullfighting in there is revolting to me, but the film looks exquiziiiiiteleeeeee done!) Voila!

Это видео Milla с ее мамой. Жизнь и работа. Obviously, I'm a fan, especially of her music! She's very honest and natural during interviews; some view it as a fault, but I think it's rare. If you're a fan like me, you'll love these videos! It's hard starting over in a new country, believe me I know. My heart breaks when I think of what her father went through, loosing so many years of his life. I think of my dad, how much he wanted to come to America and then his difficult battle with cancer. Sorry this is Russian kids! Videos are on my Milla page.

    BoA

Hey, are you guys fans of BoA Kwon? I am. This Korean singer is famous in both Japan and Korea. Born in South Korea, she released a Japanese album (Listen to My Heart) about four years after she was discovered at a talent show. She's a big deal in all the languages she speaks (I think five including English) and I really love her voice. Here's a clip.

    Give 'em Hell Malone

GIVE EM HELL MALONE is my friend Chris Yen's latest picture. Writen by Marc Hocsack and directed by Russell Mulcahy ( Resident Evil: Extinction). Cast in the well fitting bad ass role as Mauler, Chris can kung fu with the best of them! Trust me, she learned from the best, my teacher (her mother) Sifu Mark. Thomas Jane is the protagonist and Ving Rhames his rival, Boulder. It looks like a decent film. I love film noir. Kung fu-girls rule! Click for the trailer on my Chris Yen page.

    Dance by Design

Oh, how sad is this...our little Harvard film, Dance by Design, now only costs $1.00. Back in 2001, my Harvard friend Valerie made a cute little film and I played a cameo as a balet school judge. It was a lot of effort by a cool group of Massachusetts folk. I think Val won a 2003 Boston International Festival of Women's Cinema award with this project. Yep, now it's only a dollar my friends....

    President Barrack H. Obama 2009

This is a special day! I could not wait to hear the results! November 4th, 2008 rocks! Voting, for me, felt like stepping inside a history book as it's being written. I loved what Spike Lee said, when he spoke of Rosa Parks, Martin Luther King...many other people who would have loved to have been alive today. Yet, I think this goes deeper than that, like when they say that for every Jew saved in the Holocaust, there is a Christian who helped; I think many caucasians wholeheartedly voted for Barrack Obama, because of who he is and what he stands for, voting 100% colorblind. Yes, tonight is an undeniable triumph for all non whites and recognizing this has nothing at all to do with racism, but everything to do with hope and confidence. It is a triumph over a struggle that in part gave rise to denial in many Americans, who may have been asking: "Can we?" 2009 President Barrack H. Obama answered: "Yes, we ALL can." This was a democratic victory of hearts.

PS: A garbage collector this morning said to me: “Sorry, your guy didn’t win…”
I answered: “Actually, our guy won. He was a classy man throughout the campaign and he deservingly won. Now we can all look at one another as one nation, no ‘mine’ or ‘yours’, only ‘ours’ thank you.”

    My Birthday

So I turned 20, like I do each year. OK, let me just say that I'm old enough to set the cake on fire! November 2nd, long, long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away, at 5 am, a little girl was born. Last night, my mom and I stayed up very late and she told me about the day I was born. There's nothing like having your mom describe the day she went 'in' with her first kid, how she felt, becoming a mother. I'm not a kid anymore. There is something special about us now, being able to drink a glass of vine together, see a fantastic movie and bond like women. I lost my dad to cancer in September 2004, my beloved dog, Dari, in October 2001 and my very first cat, Maurice, last year, August 2007. This time of the year is difficult for me. I have not been able to celebrate a birthday for sometime. This year, I am thankful for my mother. I'm happy. With hope, good things are in store for me. This is a time to reflect, enjoy life, travel. After all, another year has come and gone so fast...

    All Hallows Eve

October is here! Maya's nephews and niece (Bart, Monty, Aj and Lulu) get a birthday, that means kitty toys are comming, Thanksgiving and Christmass are around the corner, that means yummy treats are comming and in October, Maya gets to visit a pumpkin patch and dress up on All Hallows Eve! On October 20th, grandma and mom took fuzzy baby to Hopemeadow street pumpkin patch. The weather was perfectly fine, the sun had just about dozed off. That sweet October feeling was upon us all. We found great pumpkins and Maya, my little pumpkin, posed for a few photos. On October 31, on All Hallows Eve, only two of my munchkins let the crazy lady dress them. I don't force my cats to do anything, so, Bartholomeow was James Bond and Maya was a Webkin. We got lots of photos od the neighborhood kids! Take a peak!

    KNUT

(PHOTO: Fabrizio Bensch)Zookeeper Thomas Doerflein, polar bear Knuts papa, died at age 44. Details have not yet been release. Knut and Thomas met when Knut was a weak little cub of 800 gram (about 28ounces). Thomas never gave up on Knut, carring for him day and night. Today, Knut weighs a whooping 200 pounds! Knut would have died without this man's help and Knut raised awareness for other Polar bears (species that is clearly insignificant to presidential candidate Senator John McCain's campaign). It's important to be aware of what is going on with polar bears as far as oil is concerned. The internet is at your fingertips! Google! Search. Learn. If you're interested in learning more about the current situation of polar bears visit www.defendersofwildlife.org and to sign Thomas' guest book click here.

    TINA FAY

Tonight's multi Emmy winner has proved women can be smart and beautiful! I love Tina Fay! She deserves it. I really really really hope to see more women writers employed. Watching the 'writer' team nominees tonight, it was clear that the majority of working writers are men. There was maybe one woman among the herd of unkempt male talents. This truly bothered me. However, seeing Tina Fay win totally rocked! You go girl!

I really hate posting over the wolves, as I love them. It's also an important post, but this I have to share with you. Thank you Magyars for Gumimaci! My name is Maria-Katrin. I go by Marika or Katrin, but when I was little, my Hungarian parental units, anyuka es apuka, used to call me Maci. Now, this little creature here is called GUMIMACI. Imagine you're a wolf, living in Alaska

Sport hunting is wrong. Pro-hunt advertising must be stoped! Hunters are influencing voters with lies. Obviously, they want wolves out of the picture, so they can hunt the caribou. Wolves kill the weak and injured animals, hunters kill whatever they target. Often wounding animals, leaving them to die a long agonizing death. Please learn about wolves. These creatures are beautiful and more afraid of you then you are of them. They are fair killers. They kill to eat and they pray only on the sick and the weak. Sport hunters, like S. Palin, want to eliminate all other preditors so they could thrill kill. Visit the Humane Society to learn more.

    Ian McKellen

There are a few absolutely fabulous ACTORS on this planet, Sir Ian McKellan being one of the top and this particular clip is great! I worked on my 'chops', I did the college thang, the Strasberg thang, the private training thang, then I somehow fell into the 'having to make a paycheck' aspect of life, that I missed out on the audition thang. I amuse myself with videos like these. Sir Ian, Sir Ian, Sir Ian...

    THANK YOU

I want to thank you all for your nice e-mails, sincere forum posts and kind words that you have expressed over my family's accident mentioned in the August 08 blog posting. It is good to know that I have kind people in my life. It is also a great comfort to my family. Again, my family and I thank you for your kind sentiments.

    Will Stewart

I finally had a chance to see the Dogwalker, a 1999 Paul Duran film, starring Cress Williams, Will Stewart, Stephanie Kramer, Tony Todd, John Randolph and Walter Jones. The trailer is on FANCAST. Willi is my ex and a totally fun guy to be with. I think he did a pretty decent job in this film. It's quite a cute little picture and it got two thumbs up from Cameron Crowe, a man I very much admire. I figured I'll pop a blurb about it here; the DVD is on sale on Amazon

    Gareth Pugh

After having such a sad week, I want to liven up this joint a bit with some cool fashion from Gareth Pugh, a London, England boy. I think he's like Jean Paul Gaultier with a twist. I'll be making some new updates this week, but for now, enjoy this video from this year's Mercedes-Benz fashion week. Also, when the video ends, if you scroll to the right a bit, you can catch a take from the Luella show. Great bags! I'm over leather by now, but I like the design. Gareth's stuff, I could never say 'no' to. Fabulous!

    TERRIBLE TRAGEDY

My heart is heavied as I post today. A terrible tragedy fell upon my family and I'm forced to get into an existentialist, philosophical state of mind, examining 'faith' and our role in this thing called life. It has been reported that every thirty seconds someone is killed by a drunk driver. According to the DRUNK DRIVING STATISTIC report, over fifty thousand people were killed by a drunk driver last year, that means 37% of all fatalities were alcohol related. On August 9, 2008 three of my family members were killed by a truck driver, who tested positive for drinking. He lost control of his vehicle and skidded of the road, but not before he managed to get on top of the vehicle my family members were driving. They were crushed and dragged along into the nearby field. Three of my family members were killed.

    Jovovich-Hawk calls it quits!

This is sad news. Milla Jovovich, 1/2 of the Jovovich-Hawk talented pair, told Lucky magazine she decided it's time to say good bye to her label, owned and created with friend model Carmen Hawk: "It's like, When one door closes … I'm in a time of rediscovery, from my career to my personal style. I was looking through my pre-pregnancy clothes and found so much I had forgotten about." Well, c'est domage. The girls were true fashion talents. I only hope they reconsider.

    Hmmmmm, jazz....

I guess, while I'm talking music, a reoccuring subject in the ROOM of MY OWN this month, I should probably mention I've been writing a lot of jazz songs lately. I dabble, when it comes to playing the piano, but I love to write lyrics and with hope, I'll be able to record three of my best songs; not because I feel that I'm some great talent, I'm not, I assure you, but I've always wanted to make my own pro made jazz album. I love jazz. I could listen to Nina Simone all day long...she is one soulfull lady, mah Nina. This here, little chickidee, Norah Jones, is my fave jazz youngen. I adore her. If you're in the mood for jazz, click on the title to visit a great blog, featuring some of the best.

    VACCINES

This book is interesting. Vaccinating babies or animals is routine. You've seen the commercials where the mothers gloat about vaccinating their daughters with cervical cancer? "I want to be one less." No, you are 'one more'! A commercial sells products in order to make money. Come on! Now we are injecting healthy women with cancer? Next, we will be told when to pee! Pharmaceutical companies are telling us to "ask" our doctor for a pill and doctors are being paid to promote drugs. How can this be? Is the joke on US? There is actually a law in the US that says ONLY A DRUG CAN CURE or PREVENT A DISEASE. I am shocked. If eating oranges cures scurvy, you're legally not allowed to claim that oranges cure scurvy? Huh? Doctors should not have the right to insist on vaccinating our children or our pets. These things 'could cause' a disease in our children or our pets, yet, we must let it be? Here's some contrasting information on vaccination:A B C D & E

    That Miley Girl

Miley C.'s new CD is in stores. Even if I'm too old to love it, I really dig her first album, so I will get the second. Also because my friend Kay does Miley's back up vocals (a damn good solo artist too). I hate that there is so much negative press about Miley, when she's just being a normal teenager. I mean, have you met any teens lately? Is she all that much worse? I say NO and let the kid live her life. She is acting like any 16 year old would. Kay had this to say about sweet Miles: Miley is a KILLER singer. As an actress I don't really see anything she couldn't accomplish. After all these years of hacking around in the entertainment business, I'll just say that it blows my mind to work with someone who is so freakishly talented. She's a good one, that MC.

    Independent Films

Click on the title to view a truly decent piece work that didn't need a million dollar budget. Pi, Faith in Chaos is a 1998 American psychological thriller directed by Darren Aronofsky, who won the Directing Award at the 1998 Sundance Film Festival, the Independent Spirit Award for Best First Screenplay and the Gotham Open Palm Award. The title refers to the mathematical constant π (Pi). There are more details available at Wikipedia. These days there are so many festivals and so many films and even more screenplays, yet very little substance. Is there a shortage of creative minds? I told myself my first year of film study that my role models will remain a constant. Fritz Lang, Kubric, Mastroianni, Lumière, Méliès, Vigo, Buñuel, Léger, Carné, Duvivier, Renoir, Resnais, Godard, Truffaut, Kieslowski, Lyne, Zeffirelli, Coppola, Scorcese, Spielberg and a few others with their one hit independent wonder. Steven Spielberg is an absolute master in drama, fantasy and SCI FI. Shindlers List, Munich, Memoirs of a Geisha to name a few, but I love him for pictures like ET, Close Encounters, AI, Men in Black and especially the miniseries Taken, which is probably my all time fave series, besides Dark Angel, Sliders, Roswell and another European fave, Majka from Gurun. Majka from Gurun, I learned not long ago, inspired Spielberg to create ET! I attend film festivals, however, often time I'm very disappointed. There are many reasons why I like the above film, but rent it, buy it, decide for yourself.

    NOT FOR SALE

    Dear Friends,
Can you imagine what it would be like for you if you were taken against your will, forced to have sex in order to keep alive, to be moved from one country to another as a sex slave, until you either die of disease or of some other misfortune caused by this ordeal? Can you imagine experiencing all this as a child?
It is your business. One day it could be you or it could be your child or it could happen to a friend. Women and children are abducted everyday. It's time to end human traficking. Please, click on the above title, take action. Read, learn, make a change, however small. 2005 film, Human Trafficking, starring Mira Sorvino and Donald Sutherland, with the very talented Laurence Leboeuf exposed the dark world of human trafficking. I strongly recommend you buy or rent it just to get even the smallest glimpse into the insensitive dark dirty nightmare, that for some women and children is reality. Here's a clip from Utube

    I want this!

Benedini Associati's UFO stainless steel interior and exterior bathtub! Madonna mia! I so totally want this! If you know me, you know I often browse the pages of Trendir for the strange and unusual. At this time I'm chair shopping, but OMG this bathtub!!
My home will soon look like a gang of aliens threw up in there...however, I can't resist but want this tub. It's also available with a white enamel interior and black enamel exterior, has a comfortable Exmar backrest and the wohoa! Ufo 232 gallon max capacity with plenty of room to spread out. The tub can be purchased through local suppliers of Agape bathroom products, so be sure to check out the 125/C light fixtures to add that extra special mood lighting to your evening. Alas, the price, yep, starts selling at a whopping 25K!

    RUNWAY

I've been designing clothes and costumes since I was a tween. I'll post some on my new web site when it's finaly up and running, however one of my fave designers Elie Saab posted his best of haute couture online. It is with great conviction when I say his are some of the most beautiful gowns you will ever see.
The obvious high fashion faves for most are Gucci, Dolce & Gabbana, Prada, Marc Jacobs and Tom Ford...but I think that's where the rich who don't really know fashion turn to. Not to say thay aren't great designers, but I find work by Valentino, J. Galliano, Stella McCartney, Helmut Lang, Chloe, Blumarine and Sonia Rykiel more my cup of tea; I will buy almost anything from Ralph Lauren, but even there, since I am no longer a fan of fur or leather, I've become tres selective.
Je cherche un petit peu de je n'sais quoi, leather/fur replaced with a slick style, flow and great fabrics, but most of all, that magic touch. My lookalike and fellow Slavic, Milla J. with her line, Jovovich-Hawk, co produced with friend Karmen Hawk, is also among them. They are definitely a pair inspired by all walks of life & time, never short on imagination. I am also very much at awe of many Japanese fashion designers...one in particular is Comme DesGarcons. (I've been subscribing to Olive magazine since I was a little girl; actually my friend Atsuko, from Tokyo, used to send me the magazines) and frankly, one Sunday visit to the Harajuku Square will make anyone a fashion fanatic. My point is that I feel a great need to share with you this fabulous talent that is Elie Saab

Playgerism: The next big thing in music?

Brooklyn band Creaky Boards member Andrew Hoepfner must have been stunned when the new Coldplay commercials appeared on TV.

Hoepfner popped a video on youtube of his song titled "Songs I Didn't Write" which he performed with his folk-punk duo and friends at the CMJ festival in October 2007, claiming Coldplay's Chris Martin was present during the New York show. He has been quoted saying:
"We were flattered when we thought we saw Chris Martin in the crowd that night. He seemed pretty into it. Maybe too into it."
Coldplay's new song, "Vida La Viva", a melodically similar backward version of "Songs I didn't Write", now happens to have a second sister!

Take a listen to Joe Santrini's awesome version of a similar tune...
So what really happened there? One mother, three children? Who is the eldest and most rightful heir to the throne? After the numerous claims on online blogs and in print where Hoepfner supposedly accuses Martin of stealing his song, I heard differently from the horses mouth today:
"I'm not sure if we saw him at the show, after all, now that I've heard Chris's alibi."
    Hoepfner jokingly adds:
"It's so hard to tell British people apart. We are influenced by Brian Wilson and M.I.A. Perhaps Joe Satriani and Chris Martin are too."
*Click on the title to visit Coldplay's web site and honestly, all three songs are excellent.

    Advice

I used to be a meat eater. Man do I love steak and chicken and turkey, you name it! Then, when I learned how they live, what they're fed and how they are killed I could honestly no longer put a carcass on my plate. I thought to myself, I might as well eat road kill or why not eat my cats or even human flesh? What's the difference?
Just because society says? The truth is that, because TV is primarily owned by people, who own stores that sell produce, you will never see much 'truth' about your food on television. Logically, this makes sense. If you owned a company where you sell meat, and you owned television, you wouldn't publicize against meat. Where, then, can the average consumer get the truth?

For the most part, people view PETA as a group of extremist animal activists, who are not afraid to expose the gritty of animal slaughter and fur making, who throw blood on people wearing fur coats and walk around holding gory pictures of slaughtered animals advicating their beliefs at the top of their lungs. However, if no one had made such efforts, if everyone just sat behind a desk collecting cash on behalf of animals, while calling themselves animal activists, many animals would still suffer at even greater measures than they do now. PETA makes change happen. Animals need a radical voice like PETA; they need someone to speak up and show the blood, show the gore, because these days, nothing makes people stop and think unless they are shocked by what they see.

The videos are gross, I agree, but think about it this way - not knowing, do you really want to put something inside your mouth or your child's mouth, that is hazardous to your or your child's health?

Not knowing WHAT IS IN YOUR FOOD isn't safe decision making. Please learn, grow and change. Sit trough the videos, watch the tapes, even if you stomach it just once. Know what's in your food, make a change and teach your children why. Kids love honesty and they care. If your kids knew the truth, they wouldn't eat half the things you put on their plate.

Animals can't speak. PETA is their voice. However gruesome, however harsh their actions may seem to be, they are necessary. I mean, would you notice othervise? Please show your support. When truth comes to light, people are offered an alternative by companies who care and compete to offer their consumers only the best.

Learn about things like gestation crates; learn about auctions, where one entire cow costs a dollar, yet you pay close to fourteen dollars for a small piece of steak; learn about the days it takes animals to travel to the slaughter house with no water or food, sometimes freezing/sometimes choking in heat for days; learn what the animals are fed, as you will ultimately eat the same hormones, chemicals; learn about vegetarian animals who are forced to eat meat! - you will be the one putting THAT inside your own body. Did you know that almost all baked goods have 'natural flavoring?' Get to know words like 'natural flavoring' which basically means there's a bug in your food, baby. Did you know that inside your fave market, the ham in the frozen section of prepared meals is returned back to the farms, then fed to pigs who end up in those sandwiches you may be microwaving for lunch today? It's an endless circle. Who will tell you this? Not the companies who sell the meat. Not the TV that is owned by these companies... Please educate yourself about what you put inside your body.

The immense suffering of livestock in the world today is beyond words or videos. They have no life; it is an awful existence, followed by cruel slaughter. Those who can't walk are dragged onto the belt. In the end, YOU eat it all up, while the powers that be smile all the way to the bank! In the long run you pay the price. Imagine you are a farm animal, put yourself in their place and then think, can this truly be? Could I live trough such existence? Can I truly support this with my hard earned cash and still be able to sleep at night? Is this what I want to teach my children? Do yourself and your children a favor. Visit www.goveg.com learn, grow and change for the better. Support those who fight in your name, and in the name of all creatures of our planet Earth. There is no safe way, or healthy way to eat meat anymore. I am sad to say this, yet it is the plain truth. It is also not easy to become a vegetarian. You may get very sick if you do this 'cold turkey'. I made a change in my life by quitting the meat of one animal each year. I'm healthy and I've experienced great benefits from the change. I'm happy to say that this year I have become a pescaterian, that means I'm down to sea food. I never felt better and when I'm done with fish, I'll feel amazing! Mind, body and spirt in complete harmony. Consider making this change. Help those who fight for what you believe in. Deep inside, you know they're right.

    LIGHTS

I have been so into this girl's music it is not even funny. I think I played 'The Last Thing on Your Mind' like a thousand times now. About three years ago I wrote 15 as she calls it "apple pie" type of rock songs that she would be so perfect to sing, if I could only make her do it!! I like her kind of music. I've been a 'fanley' for the longest time. 'Fanleys' can usually be found right here...anyway, Lights, Kay Hanley and Ashley Simpson, Plastic Parachute, Gwen Stefani music is my fave kind of rock voice, when it comes to the girly girlies, as I usually listen to things like Norah Jones and Nina Simone and all that jazz, nothing beats my top 5 picks when it comes to rock! (OK, well, maybe my little bro's CD does.)If you don't know LIGHTS as I have not, up until two days ago, then click on the above title and visit her on myspace. You won't regret it!

I definitely want one!I've never driven a more comfortable car than the Mercedes ML class, but I've been itching for a car that eats less gas. Lately, I've been looking at the hybrids...like Tango, Prius, and my fave, the Aptera. Like they say: "Got an itch? Go scratch!"

Happy Birthday to my lovely mami!

Yesterday was my darling mami's Birthday. As always,
I try to make it great. Last year, for her 60th, I bought her a piano. This year, I was not so inventive. I gave her money.
I also drove around town trying my best to get hold of some lily of the valley flowers or lilacs as they are her fave. When I couldn't find them, I got her seeds :) We had a laugh about that. I hate cut flowers anyway, it's such a waste. I ordered the most delicious creamy awesomeness from the Whole Foods bakery and I made us lunch.
It was a nice, sweet evening at home with mom. I love my mami!

    Lunch Deux

I think I created a mutha of a beast when I posted a few of my recipes in here. Now people want more! Well, dear friends, I'm glad. My nutrition tips are not DIETS. They are very good for you. I'm certain almost everything can kill you if not in moderation. Good nutrition is the key to proper weight management and to good health. Most of all, it is a sure way to secure more energy and vibrance. Understanding food is step one, knowing what not to eat is step two and the joy of cooking for yourself is step three. Add at least one hour of cardio exercize a day and at least four glass bottles of water a day (I say glass, b/c plastic bottles contain bad oils)with plenty of sleep to grow your superpowers. Avoid processed foods. Instead, eat an all organic diet. Two of my constant companions are the Lotte Berk Method and my DVD of the New York City Ballet work out. I began studying ballet at age seven, performing yearly at the National Theatre in Chrudim and I find ballet is the most effective exercize working well on each and every body part. If you are a dancer, you know this. Now here for my latest mealtime contribution!

    A Thespian Evening

Last week, Professor John Conlon, my dear friend and a person for whom I have great admiration, e-mailed me with a great surprise! He was flying in from Florida and thought it would be nice if we had dinner and went to see his daughter Nicole's MFA performance at Perishable Theatre in Providence, Rhode Island. I jumped at the chance to see my former college prof. and to have the pleasure of meeting his daughter, Nicole, who turned out to be an absolute gem of a girl. Nicole is an MFA student at the Rhode Island College Department of Music, Theatre and Dance, graduating this year with a Master of Fine Arts in Theatre. Last night, we enjoyed her project, Normal Portraits: One Woman a Lifetime of Shots, which is a solo performance, developed in collaboration with advisor Vanessa Gilbert, Perishable Theatre Artistic Director. Normal Portraits explores the reality of living with chronic illness as experienced by Nicole, who was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at an early age 7; Her performance sheds light on the day to day struggles of living with one of America’s most prevalent diseases and her ongoing investigation into what is 'normal'. Nicole's work is vibrant, informative and in plain truth, I'm just glad I wasn't wearing mascara! -Please check back later for an imporant link-

POLAR BEARS ON THE BRINK OF EXTINCTION

Soon, polar bears will emerge from their dens, new cubs in tow.
The tragedy is, these cubs are one of the last generations of American polar bears born in the wild. Every credible scientific study shows that polar bears are losing habitat at an alarming rate.

Big Oil and their friends in the Bush/Cheney Administration continue their campaign to industrialize polar bear habitat and fuel dependence on dirty fossil fuels. Just last week, pro-drilling Members of Congress launched a new attack!

If you can, please donate $25.00, $50.00, $100.00 or another amount to help pass the Arctic Wilderness Act to protect key polar bear habitat in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. Fight to save habitat off Alaska’s coasts and please support other wildlife-saving work.

Scientists at the U.S. Geological Survey say that America’s polar bears could be extinct in the wild by 2050. They could be gone even sooner. Last week, Alaska Senators Ted Stevens and Lisa Murkowski, taking more than $618,000 in campaign contributions from the oil and gas industry, launched yet another cynical ploy to line their pockets, introducing legislation that would sacrifice the Arctic Refuge to Big Oil’s drills.

This is not the only threat. The Bush/Cheney Administration has repeatedly delayed protecting polar bears under the Endangered Species Act, auctioning off drilling rights in prime polar bear habitat in the Chukchi Sea and once again pushing for destructive drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge -- the most important onshore denning habitat for U.S. polar bears.
Please click on the title and do what you can.
    Thank You!
